On October 9, 2003, Station Casinos announced that new hotel, casino, and entertainment complex would be built at Charleston Boulevard and the Las Vegas Beltway in Summerlin named 'Red Rock Station'. The casino is known for it's controversial past during construction, with many people thinking that Red Rock would ruin the normal lives for the locals in Summerlin. This resort is also Station Casino's flagship property, since it's company is headquartered inside the property. The hotel is named after Red Rock Mountains, due to how close they both are to each other, not to mention it's desert theme being thrown in with the casino's modernity. The hotel is owned by the Station Casinos corporation and opened back in 2006.
